There was a time when humans recognised the power of plants. It was common knowledge that environmental health depended on plant diversity. This awareness survives in a few places, mostly amongst traditional peoples. At the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary we work closely with the native plants of the Western Ghat mountains in India. Through them we nurture land, water, habitat and community. The whole earth, with its mountains, forests, rivers, soils, grasslands, glaciers, winds and oceans, is sacred.

Abhishek has been living at the Sanctuary for sometime now. Most mornings and some evenings and nights, you can spot him with his camera, wandering around, photgraphing plants,animals and fungi. His images have added greatly to the existing Sanctuary photo archive and we are pleased to present a few of them today.
